Hi Nils,
In Viewer - toggle the 'Sandbox' option in the menu 'Edit -> Preferences -> Security Configuration [tab] and see if this helps the situation.
In Author - toggle the 'Sandbox' option in the menu 'Help -> Plug-in Manager -> Security [tab]
The DWG formats R11,R12 upto R27 (2014) are supported. See link on main page for Supported File Type details.
