I am currently configuring a new Data Store in my SAP Data Services connected to oracle databas 11g
My question what is the best practice to use oracle client or use ODBC and what is pros and cons for each option
Best practice is to always use the available native client option. In addition to the optimizations and performance issues, you may also have to consider that each and every user will have to create an ODBC connection to to be able to even view data from a table in that particular data store.Long story short, always use the native client option.

If you have a native client option, then use that as Data Services has optimisations specific to certain clients. The ODBC option is a little more generic.
