exchange rate issue in depreciation area

Former Member

Hi professionals.

My client uses parallel currency solution to keep different exchange rate in same currency.

A problem occurs when we post Fixed asset acquisition document in foreign currency.

SAP don't exchange foreign currency based on LC2's exchange rate type.

Is there any solution to manage different exchange rate in AA?

My clients need to have depreciation area as following.

01 Local eco area-> LC1

02 IFRS dep area->LC2

04 Tax dep area -> LC1

05 Local eco area-> LC2

I already customized SPRO>Finacial accounting(New)>Asset accounting>Valuation>Currencies>specify the use of pallarel currencies

and succeeded to keep LC2 amount in Local eco area.

However, it's impossible to set LC2 in IFRS dep area.

When it comes to set Global company currency for 02 IFRS dep area, following error occurs.

"Currency type 60 is already assigned to depreciation area 05"

Tr-cd:OB22 setting is following.

->LC1

   Crcy type 10 Company code currency

   Currency EUR

   Ex rate type M

->LC2

   Crcy type 60 Global company currency

   Currency EUR

   Ex rate type Z002

Any information are very welcome.

I already checked

but in my case, currency of LC1 and LC2 are same"EUR", so Tr-cd: OAYH is not useful.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Sir,

The calculation of parallel currency is done based on the customizing
customizing of your parallel currencies (table T001A /OB22).The exchange
rate type from table T001A is used for the calculation of the
amount in parallel currency.
Please review the explanation about parallel currency contained
in note 335608.

As outlined the 2nd currency amount must come from a parallel
depreciation area. Please check in OABT which area corresponds to LC2
and with the help of the deprecation log (SCMO or by recreating it)
verify if really  amounts in local currency are always equal to parallel
currency for the relevant period.

The system does not translate depreciation amounts. Instead,  they are
calculated in the given currency, using the depreciation terms in the
in the depreciation area."

As you may know, a basic configuration of depreciation areas and posting
indicators in asset transaction OADB is:

                               Posting to G/L         Ledger
    Area 01 HGB                    1                   0L
    Area 02 IAS                    3                   LL
    Area 03 (IAS - HGB)            6                   LL

In your case, parallel areas must be defined also in accordance to the
ledger scenario. Not only for area 01 but also for 02 and for derived
area 03.

Area 01 parallel area 32
Area 02   ""          XX

Area 03 = (02 - 01)   > parallel derived area YY = (XX - 32)

thanks and regards
