Is there a way to exclude certain Storage Types from MRP/MD04 as available stock. We know that Storage Locations can be excluded but we do not want to move the production materials to another Storage Location. Production lags in their issuance of the components to the produciton order and therefore the stock is phyical consumed but not in the system. We have set up Storage Types (PSAs) for materials ordered to the production order.
Hi Shawn,
I do not think can exclude storate type from MRP. You can exclude the storage location, but that is not what you are asking.
Unfortunatelly storage type are not assigned directly to a Storage Location (storage type are assigned to a warehouse number and this warehouse number will be assigned to a plant and storage location combination). So I don't understand why everybody recommends to exclude your storage location..
Maybe you can block the stock in your storage type, this way the stock will not be seen by the MRP.
Kind Regards,
Mariano

Hi,
Go to "MMSC" T-Code and opposite to storage location there is "MRP" field where you have options like
Storage location stock also planned at plant level
1 Storage location stock excluded from MRP
2 Storage location stock planned separately

Ravi, the question was about storage type, an organization element in WM, not about storage location
Hi Shawn
You can exclude the storage location from MRP using the "MRP Sloc Indicator". This setting is available on the material master tab MRP 4 (it only appears when accessing the material master with plant and sloc).
If this is not an option to you and you have a more specific business requirement, it is possible to do that using method CHANGE_MDPSX_MARD of BAdI MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA. See the document below for an example of this BAdI:
