execution of BPC 10.1 (embedded) Report failed

Hi All,

The execution of any BPC 10.1 (SP3) embedded Report failed on a BW 7.4 SP 8 system. We have tested different queries and we always get the same error message: Unable to cast object of type 'com.sap.firefly.core.parameter.impl.PrString' to type 'com.sap.firefly.core.parameter.IPrNumber'.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

regards,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

For BPC Embedded version you use Bex report to build reports, you can't use EPM add on for Embedded version.

Hi Patrick and Andy,

This issue could be solved by applying SAP note 2033603 - InA: eliminate Structure ID attribute.

@Andy: FYI, EPM add-in and/or Analysis for Office are the front-end tools to use to access a BPC 10.1 embedded model. It is in fact based on Bex Queries that you build in the Query Designer.

Hope it will helps.

Cheers,

Patrick

Hello Patrick/All,

Is there any added advantage of using EPM add-in instead of directly working on analyzer?

Does it slow the input forms or reports in any way

And can we move the data ( or do a look up) to and from classic to embedded, given the fact they would belong to two different environments.

Ed.

Hi Ed,

With the EPM Add-in, you have an integration of Business Process Flows, and Work Status inside the Excel front-end. And as far as I know, AO doesn't offer this feature currently.

Regarding moving the data, there is no data manager for the embedded model. So if you would like to move data from an embedded model to a standard model, you will have to use BW technics.

What is feasable on the front-end though is to have several reports (on one single worksheet or several worksheets), and have those reports connected to their dedicated sources (one for BPC standard, and the other for BPC embedded). And then in Excel (using local members for example) you can lookups. But be aware that, depending on the size of your report, the lookups could be quite cumbersone when it comes to performance.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

Patrick
