BP:CA = 1:n and BP:CA = n:1

Hello Experts,

Is it possible that BP:CA = 1:n and BP:CA = n:1 .

In which scenarios we can use this one to many and many to one relationship between BP and CA.

Regards

Suraj

Hi Suraj,

a N:1 relationship between BP and CA is not possible. A given CA is always related to exactly one BP, yet BPs can have multiple CA.

The one to many relationship is necessay, for example, when one BP has contracts on different premises (e.g. different buildings owned by one person). In this case all contracts for one premise could be billed together while the contracts from different premises might have different billing dates. Hence the business parter would have different contract accounts (e.g. one per premise).

However, it is also possible to assign additional business partners to a contract. These BP could be the alternative payer or alternative payee (cf. Objects in Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable - Merging Business Partners (IS-U) - SAP Library)

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your reply

But I have one more doubt arising, whlile we create contract account category, there is one-

checkbox ( allow only one contract account ),what exactly it means.

Thanks & Regards

That flag determines if you can use account holder functions which essentially allow you to identify interested parties for a contract account.  The account still can only have one BP which is the main BP and which controls the relevant posting transactions.
