Date Reference in Sales Order Reporting

Hi Experts,

In Sales Order reports, like Sales Order Volume Report and Sales Order Return Rate Report, there is a time frame selection that we can choose from.

Could anyone confirm which data field this time frame selection is based on?

Posting Date / Requested Date / Creation Date???

We cannot find this in the manual.  Please advice.
