Searching in PSR or Print Preview

I have developed a PSR viewer.

The challenge is to provide a "Search" facility.

However, the search should not just be in the data (rows and columns) of the datawindow,

but rather within the document.

So it should be able to find strings in the header/detail/footer bands, page numbers, and

any string contained within nested reports.

Having found a string, it should high-light it.

Any ideas?

Hi Larry;

  Suggestion: Have you thought about just exporting the DWO into a PDF file and then just letting the Adobe Acrobat software perform the search & highlight?

Thanks Chris.

Actually I had thought of it.

Some reasons I am trying to avoid it:

1. Unless I embed a PDF API like Amyuni in the app, I would need to rely on the user having a PDF printer.

2. The PSR viewer does good things like sort and filter but cannot search; PDF can search but not sort and filter. I'm trying to 'do it all'.

Thanks anyway,

Larry

Hi Larry;

  Once the PSR file is loaded into either a DC or DS - you can use the FIND ( ) and Filter ( ) methods to perform searching. Once sorted & filtered properly - build the PDF from that for highlighting.

Sort of "hybrid" solution.
