SAP ERP with Cognos TM1/ Cognos Express

Hi,

We are an SAP ECC 6.0 customer for about past 5 years and are now looking for implementing a BI tool. SAP BW + BOBJ and Cognos TM1 are the tools that we are evaluating. I would like to hear from experts about any technical challenges in integrating SAP ECC directly to Cognos (not through SAP BW). Also, in general, I also seek guidance on what the technical architecture be if we are going for a non-SAP BI solution.

        I also want to integrate  SAP ECC directly to Cognos TM1 (not through SAP BW). Have you got any solution for it ? If Yes, Please share it with me.

Hi,

SAP BW+BOBJ and SAP ECC both SAP products but congons the othre product.

if you are using the SAP ECC better go with the SAP BW/BOBJ

SAP also will support.

if you want you can connect to SAP ECC to COGNOS.

Hi Phani,

Thanks for your reply. I am aware of the obvious advantages of using SAP BW/BOBJ suite of products as integration will be no issue in that case. However, we also need to pull data from few other non-SAP sources and thats where we find SAP BW struggling against Cognos. I am trying to find if there are any known challenges in using Cognos as an ETL tool. Looking forward to your comments on this.
