Encoding problem while exporting report to PDF in Unix Environment for Bullet symbol

Hi everyone,

We have a trouble while generating Crystal Report(having bullet symbols) to pdf on web. All Bullet symbols are exported as question marks. The problem is only if  the web project is running on Linux server. On Windows export and printing works fine.

We have tried both WebSphere Application Server Community Edition 2.1.

i am wondering that report working fine for Japanese characters but it is not working for Bullet symbols instead showing question mark(?) symbols.

Could anybody help, how to set charset or encoding used while printing and exporting report to pdf?

The issue is like below. please suggest which font do i need to go to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance

Penchal

Hi Penchal,

JRC is a 100% Java reporting solution, it can only use fonts that are accessible by the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If the fonts are not accessible by the JRE, then the default font is used.

Fonts must be available on the platform where the PDF file is viewed, or substitute fonts will be displayed.

The character encodings supported are either WinANSI (CodePage 1252) or an encoding used with the language packs supplied by Adobe (and not Unicode).  If the font is not part of the WinANSI (CodePage 1252) font set, they are displayed as question marks in the PDF document.

Install the fonts on the operating system where the JRC application is deployed. Refer to the operating system documentation for more information

Thanks,
