calculate difference between categories

Hi All,

How we can calculate between categories? Simply, I would like to have actual-budget difference in EPM Addin report.

I've created excel formula with automatic local member recognition, but local member has been created with other dimensions which i have as a column (type of measure, time).

I'd like to create local member, which i could repeat in report for any other dimension - in mentioned example I'd like to create actual-budget and bpc should put it in all measures, ytd and periodic.

Hi Michael,

You don't need to link the local member to a fixed dimension member. Depending on your report settings, you can assign excel references to the local member formula, such as columns.

Try to use member formula in the Web admin.

In categories dimension, check "allow member formula"

Create a new member ID in categories viz. "Variance"

And the in Member formula in admin tab, save formula "Variance=actual-budget"

Use ID variance in your report instead of the local member

What about efficiency? does it have a big impact? If yes, for which operation the most?

Efficiency wont be affected much.

I have use this on Account dimension many times and that too with complex calculations.
