GUI Logon SID inconsistences causing refresh issues

Hi,

We have a situation where some users have a different SID for their BW connection in their SAP Logon Pad (GUI). This problem is that workbooks that they have created can't be refreshed by other users unless they have the same SID.

A correct GUI connection has a SID of PW1. Some users have 00. Analysis hardcodes this SID within the report and it can be seen in the Information tab of the Design Panel.

Is there ANY way to change this within a report that has an incorrect SID (00 in this case). If the user changes the SID properties themselves within the GUI I'm 99% sure that any exisiting reports they have created will no longer be able to be refreshed.

Thanks,

Stephen

Hi,

You can edit the datasource on the workbook.

Go to the components tab and edit the data source. The only problem with this is it will rest your query to the orginal view. So if the users have added any rows, columns or background filters it will reset to the orginal state

Thanks Michael, but that's not really going to fly with the users as they (as you said) have to add back in drilldowns etc...

But thanks for taking the time to reply

Hi Stephen,

If you can upgrade to SP9 you have a workable solution.

Is there any other option than upgrading to SP9?  We are currently at 1.4 SP5

Thanks!

Mark
