Hi Experts,
we created a BEx workbook to record user comments following the second solution proposed by Gerd Schoeffl in discussion http://scn.sap.com/thread/1323355 :
3. Solution 2:
Use a special characteristic in the data records for keeping the comment. The characteristc has to be 'without master data'. You can use it to hold coments that are up the 60 characters long. This technique has been also pretty popular with SEM/BW-BPS.
Now how do you enter those comment. When using BEx Analyzer you can type in new comments directly in a new line. When using BEx Web this is unfortunately not possible. You will need a work around. You can create an input field that is used to type in the new comment. Now create a planning function that generates a new record and that uses a variable for the characteristic for the comment. When setting up the command for executing the planning function fill the variable from the input field. Another possibility is to create the new line with an existing comment (e.g.'#') and later create a new comment and change the data record (see below).
It worked fine and now we are trying to do the same in a NW 740 environment.
Sadly in this environment the cell corresponding to the characteristics without master data is locked and we can not add any value.
Does this characterirics behavior changed between the two versions? The workbook is based on a query developed on an aggregation level of an HANA optimized infocube Thanks for any idea.
Hi Leonardo,
is the input cell really locked or does it only look like it would be locked?
BEx Analyzer often shows wrong formatting in the new input line. Did you enter a value and try to transfer the value?
Regards Michael
