Hi ,

We are planning for Auto-id mobile UI POC using MOTOROLA MC9190-Z HANDHELD RFID READER.

We are going  to use the standard SAP  Auto-id mobile UI

I am very new to SAP  Auto-id mobile UI

Please let me know

1- Where these standard UI are located/How to access them?

2- What is Role/authorization required?

3- What is the Use/capability  of  Mobile UI  under SAP Auto-id Tools option?

4- What to expect from the device for standard UI to work??

How the communication between SAP-AUTO ID and Mobile Browser takes place?? When I submit  the browser page , which end point in SAP-AUTO ID is hit, how it transfers the request to SAP AUTO-ID rule processor??

Thanks in advance

Regards

Tusar

Hi ,

SAP AII use SAP ITSmobile as standard mobile UI technology.

1- Where these standard UI are located/How to access them?

BRV Ans: This depends on which release of AII are you using. It can be /AIN/MOBILE1 or /AIN/MOBILE2.

2- What is Role/authorization required?

BRV Ans: Auto-ID Supervisor role "SAP_AIN_SUPERVISOR" is essential for accessing AII mobile UIs.

3- What is the Use/capability  of  Mobile UI  under SAP Auto-id Tools option?

BRV Ans: Using SAP AII standard Mobile UI transactions you can pack, load, unload, unpack, etc activities.(The list is big).

4- What to expect from the device for standard UI to work??

BRV Ans: Below are some pre-requisites that I copied from SAP help documentation... Refer(or search) to/for the link Integration with Mobile RFID Devices - Integration - SAP Library for further information.

Prerequisites

In order to integrate with mobile RFID devices, you must have the following hardware and software in place:

  • An SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure 7.1 device controller configuration entry for a mobile device
  • A mobile device equipped with:
    • WebBrowser (Framesets, JavaScript support)
    • Function keys (F1 to F10), an ENTER key, a trigger
    • RFID antenna with an API to control tag reading and writing
    • ActiveX controls or Java applets to connect to the RFID hardware
    • Permanent network connectivity, as this is an online mobile technology

Hi ,

Yes Motorola/symbol pocket browser should be compatible.

Did you activate the mobile ui http service in SICF transaction in AII?

Also refer to the following threads which might help you. If you search for ITS mobile in SCN you can find lot of other threads...

Thanks Bharat

We have activated /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/ain_mobile and configured the

CL_HTTP_EXT_ITS as the Handler.

We could see the Auto-id Mobile UI with packing/loading/Moving etc.. options.

Query is

1- Is there any other config required to browse this standard UI  page from say Motorola pocket browser or the simply providing the URL in the device browser will work??

2- Do  we need to do any device specific API & browser integration or it will capture the RFID read??

,

Is this the first time an RFID device is being connected to your client environment? If so may be your BASIS and/or RFID device support team can help you in the technical integration of the devices with the SAP AII system. Usually there will be vendor specific device configuration that needs to be performed on the devices prior to using these devices.

thanks Bharat

Yes , this is the first time  SAP AUTO-ID Standard ITS Mobile UI will be on trial run on MOTOROLA MC9190-Z HANDHELD RFID READER pocket browser.

Assuming the device configuration & wireless connectivity is done, will the standard UI start reading rfid tags by default or any custom development  required in the browser side in order to read the tags??

Any sample implementation  will help.

Any other RFID integration challenge needs to be taken care??
