Hi,

Very simple example: country is an attribute of customer.

In a planning application (aggregation level) you don't want to have a country, but you want country to be derived from customer in the planning cube (customer is in your aggregation level).

Here characteristic relationship will help you.

Hi,

There is no relation to planning sequence execution ...

Let's say customer AAA has country US in MD as an attribute.

In your planning layout you enter 100 USD for a customer AAA (country is not in your layout).

Using characteristic relationship you will get in the cube customer AAA, amount 100 USD AND country US, even if you don't enter this value.
