Hello experts ,
We are having a peformance issue when the developers are working on the Designer.
Just to save any changes takes bout 15 minutes.
importing a small filel (90 KB) takes another 2 minutes
e configuration is the following one:
- BODS 4.2 SP2 is installed on Linux SUSE
- DB is Oracle 11g R2
Designer version that is being used is SAP BODS Designer SP02 patch2
Higly appreciate for any suggestions
Are you running over a WAN? DS Designer is a client-server tool with numerous roundtrips to the underlying repositor database both at start-up and during design operations. It doesn’t work properly in a WAN environment due to network latency. That’s why I always recommendat the instalation of a WTS or similar, located in the same network segment as the DS server. You will work much faster thru a Remode Desktop Connection and will save time and effort in client installs and upgrades.

You won't get anything more official than what I've just told you. Anyway, what difference would that make?
This is not DS Designer specific. Any client server tool, accesssing a remote db over a WAN will suffer from the same issue.
The Citrix / WTS solutions are fully documented in the official DS Installation Guide.
