Dear All,

We have the following in our lansdsape.

ERP 6.0

DB - ORACLE 10.2

We are planning to upgrade to below,

OS - Windows server 2012

We are upgrading our hardware also,

These are the steps we have planned for the upgrade,

1. Install OS version 2012 in new hardware

2. Take Export of SAP from old server (Windows 2003) and Import it to new server (Windows 2012).

3.Upgrade SAP version to ECC6 EHP7

4.Upgrade Oracle from 10.2 to 11.2

Kindly let me know if this is the best option available for upgrade.

Thanks and Regards,

Siva

To upgrade the SAP system to EHP7 you need to have Oracle 11G database.

You can avoid the Oracle upgrade. All you need to do is:

- Setup target server with Windows 2012

- Homogeneous system copy (Export/Import method) of the source system to the target server.

- While setting up the system on the target server you can install Oracle 11G database and perform the import which will get you 11G database on the target system.

- Start the EHP7 update

Hi Reagan,

Thanks a lot.So we can install Oracle 11G at the time of importing the export in the target server is that right.

or Do we need to install Oracle 11G in the target server first before importing the export.

Kindly clarify.

Thanks and Regards,

Siva

Yes you need to install 11G database software and start the import which will set up the target system with Oracle 11G.

Hi Reagon,

Thanks for the reply.

We have planned our upgrade as below.

1. Install Win 2012 in new hardware

2.Export of SAP from existing server

3.Import to new server with 2012 OS with same DB and ERP version ( Oracle 10.2 and ECC6 ).

Upgrade Oracle to 11G

4.Upgrade SAP to EHP7

Thanks a lot for your help.

Thanks and Regards,
