Write custom Pre-Save Activity

Dear Experts,

did anyone of you implemented a custom Pre-Save Activity to be used in Data Field Assignment Maintenance of an Assembly Data Field?

The help sais, that this is used for:

Custom activity that runs to validate and modify all data field entries in the group before saving the data.

What I would like to achieve is, when collecting assembly data fields, operator just scans one barcode and I fill in the SFC assembly data field by extracting this information from the barcode.

How should this Pre-Save Activtiy look like? I could not find anything in the sap me sdk extenstions training.

Have you investigated the use of 2D Barcodes for collecting assembly data? That's one of the few places SAP ME supports 2D barcodes, and its purpose is to allow users to scan a single barcode and parse this into various assembly data fields.
