How to find out what BICS connection a Specific dashboard uses? (for dashboards built on BEx)

Gurus,

There are a lot of dashboards in our BI 4.0 environment (BEx based - Via BICS Connection) but we do not have complete documentation on the technical specifications.

What we find out repeatedly is that we find it very hard to figure out in a short time what BICS Connection this dashboard uses? The CMC seems to be only provide the BEx query details but not the BICS connection details. using SM66 on the SAP backend after firing up the dashboard only gives the User id and other job details but no the connection details. What would be the easiest way to find out the specific BICS connection the dashboard uses?

Using Promotion management you can identify the connection has been used for the dashboard. When you add the dashboard to the list and depending objects it gives you the connection name too.

Hope this helps!!!

Hello Ivan,

If you have access to CMC, then you can access the connections to see all the connections which have been formulated and if the organization of the connections has been done dashboard wise then you can find all the requisite details there.

We have best practices of maintaining the connections in different folders based on dashboards.
