IDES Installation ECC EHP 6.04 EHP7

Hi Everyone,

we are looking to install the SAP IDES for a demo system.

once the system is up and running is it possible to copy \ create clients?

Also could we import transports into this system and test out programs?

i used to work with IDES Systems and i was able to do transports and clientcopies (inside IDES not to other Systems), they are basically normal sap Systems with restrictions in Support / upgrade etc (see note 799639)

PS: in you title you mention 6.04 and ehp7 These are 2 different releases: this would be either 6.04 or 6.17 = ECC 6.0 EHP7

Yes, thanks for the correction. It would be ECC 6.0 EHP7.

When you say you cannot use transports to another system, do you mean as in a DEV to QA landscape? Like a promotion of code through a system landscape?

We would however be able to a some abap develop in this system, test a few things out and then create a transport to another non-IDES system?

sorry i was unprecise, transports did work also into other Systems but Client copies ususally don't (or are not supported according to note)

I must have missed where it says the part about client copies.

So can you clarify, within one IDES system.

Can you create clients and or copy from one client to another?

sure,

if you have one IDES System, you can copy clients from one client to another and create clients.

copying the Client to a non-IDES System is not official supported by sap
