Hi Guys,
I am SAP BI consultant and the issue with SAP PI, we get some weekly flat files from external vendors to SAP PI.
External Source <--- SAP PI
(Flat File.CSV) (Weekly Pull from Source)
We have some scenarios, where in files don't exist in source locations and SAP PI doesn't log missing file as an error.
Do we have some mechanisms in SAP PI wherein we can missing file as error in SAP PI logs, and the interface should fail.
So that team can take corrective measures.
your inputs will be of great help.
Thank you.

Hi Azhar,
Thanks for quick response, while setting the alerts do we need to do any coding or just config at interface level ?
if we need to set alert for one interface, how much effort it will take to set this up.
Can this be a reusable component to use in other interfaces to save time ?
Thank you again.
Regards,
Vamsi

>>> Its just Standard Config
if we need to set alert for one interface, how much effort it will take to set this up
>>>It should not take much time, just need to follow the Config steps and user must have required Roles/authorizations
Can this be a reusable component to use in other interfaces to save time
>>> Yes some part of the config can be re-used

No straight forward solution for this. But if an empty file is placed in the directory, that can trigger a configured alert

below are alert configuration guides that help.

If you have specific questions, please let me know the PI version that you are using.
Hi,
AFAIK we do not have such an option to report missing file.
If there is no file in Source location, nothing will get processed in PI and PI channel will keep polling for the Source Dir / File without any errors.
There can be scenario if the file fails in PI, then by using Alerts you can trigger the notification for error,
So if you don't receive any files for that week, means that its not being sent from the Sender.

Azhar
