Dear SAP Professionals,
I am very new to SAP. So it could be great if you can explain as to a child.
I'd like to explain with an example as seen below. By the way, I don't want to use Alternative Bom in any means.
I have an original BOM I will name it as Original1. And I have another BOM which I want it to copy Original1 daily. I will name it as Copy1.
Let's say I have this BOM when I view it today. And I created Copy1 and linked it to Original1.(When I say "Link" I mean it'll copy Original1 everyday)
Original1
0010 Item1 25.11.2013 -> 31.12.9999
0020 Item2 11.10.2013 -> 31.12.9999
0030 Item3 24.10.2013 -> 31.12.9999
So Copy1 will be like this
Copy1
0010 Item1 25.11.2013 -> 31.12.9999
0020 Item2 11.10.2013 -> 31.12.9999
0030 Item3 24.10.2013 -> 31.12.9999
So today I decided to change Item2 with Item9 starting from tomorrow.(Today is 21.11.2014) So it'll look like this. I'll make the changes at CS02
Original1
0010 Item1 25.11.2013 -> 31.12.9999
0020 Item2 11.10.2013 -> 22.11.2014
0020 Item9 22.11.2014 -> 31.12.9999
0030 Item3 24.10.2013 -> 31.12.9999
So at the end of the day SAP will match Original1 with Copy1 (because Copy1 is linked to Original1). And it'll identify the differences between these two BOMs. It'll see that at the 0020 row Item2 will finish tomorrow and start with Item9. So it'll copy this change to Copy1 with the same ECM. So Copy1 will look as below.
Copy1
0010 Item1 25.11.2013 -> 31.12.9999
0020 Item2 11.10.2013 -> 22.11.2014
0020 Item9 22.11.2014 -> 31.12.9999
0030 Item3 24.10.2013 -> 31.12.9999
Is it possible to do in SAP. All helps are much appreciated.
Best regards,
Alican
Hi Ayush,
Why do you want to have an Original BOM & a Copy BOM in same system ?
Even if you want to do that It will be better if you go for a BDC creation using T-code : SHDB
Please refer below link for BDC creation...
This BDC will be created by an ABAP person who will do the recording as you say & will do the coding part also.
It would be difficult to update using LSMW, so please update using a BDC.
Tell your technical the way recording needs to be done, she will do the recoring & write a program, that will be an easy task.

Dear Pratik Jain,
I need to have components from different Receiving Locations in same plant for the same BOM. For example
Original BOM components must come from Receiving Location 1 (RL1 in Plant5)
Copy BOM components must come from Receiving Location 2 (RL2 in Plant5)
I'd like to have Original BOM & Copy BOM in same system because I have a lot of BOMs to maintain and I want to maintain one and other one will copy itself automatically but with the different receiving location.
I hope I explained myself better.
Could you please comment if you have any other recommendations without having alternative BOM?
Thank you,
Hi Oleks,
I dont think it is possible to link BOM the way you are expecting, as Original BOM & Component BOM will be different.
Please let me know if you have any Z program to download BOM data for a material ?
I mean the report captures Item No., Item Category, Component, Quantity & Unit.
Regards
Pratik
Hi,
You need to develop a Z- program to do so.

Ravi
