Can I disable user downloading of files in SAP Productivity Pak?

Hi Experts,

Our Training team is thinking of ways to secure sensitive files in our SAP Productivity Pak database.  My question - Is there a way to disallow users to download files and just open and view files in their PC or laptop?  Is there any configuration to be done in the server?

Please help!

Thank you in advance.

Hi Tere,

As you probably know, SAP Productivity Pak (SPP) can publish documents in a variety of formats including Html/web, Microsoft Office, and PDF.

If you're publishing your documents in Microsoft Office and/or PDF formats, then it's very easy for a user to download these files.  So, one way to prevent users from downloading content is to disable the PDF and Microsoft Office formats, and publish your files to Html/web only.  The content will only be viewable on their web browser.

All the best,

Dave

Hi Dave,

We tried converting our PDF files to HTML files.  We uploaded the HTML files to PROD PAK. However, when we uploaded the HTML files to PROD PAK, most of the images were missing from the actual file even though we saved it as a single file.  Is there something wrong with the file converter we used?  What else can cause this missing images on the display browser?

Thanks.

Hi Tere,

Rather than converting your PDF files to HTML files, simply publish your original SAP Productivity Pak (SPP) files directly to HTML.  This bypasses the PDF publishing completely, and prevents you from having to deal with uploading HTML files into Productivity Pak.
