Global Projects config

Dear Gurus,

My users are looking to create Global Statistical Projects for reporting pusposes.

For example, they need to get a Global reporting on treir Marketing spend irrespectively to Company Code. Like how much globally they have spent on TV adverts, agency fees, posters printing.

Is that possible to adapt PS functionality for that? My current problem is that the system wouldn't allow users to save WBS structure without assigment to Comapny Code (eror message KO127).

Please could you kindly share how other companies normaly set a reporting like this?

Many thansk in advance?

Hello Daria,

WBS-elements as account assignment objects have to belong to the Company Code.

What does not need to belong anywhere is the Project Definition.

You can have a global project, where WBS-elements do belong to different Company Codes, that's the most natural way of having a Global project.

Every company will need to use own set of WBS-elements, but you can align on the naming convention (code) to make it consistent globally, while reflecting Country or Company by specific prefix or suffix.

Alternative solution, for example, can be a local Projects, - maybe Streamline project still has not established a common structure everywhere, so you can use Subproject fields to report on a number of different WBS-elements cross-projects.  The subproject catalog can be global for this project type and reflect a marketing channel for example or any other classification of marketing cost.

Paulo

Hi,

Here are my views:

  • Create a Project Stucture that belongs to a Corporate Office For Example.
  • Users are created as vendors
  • And then the Financial Transactions (Intercompany Postings/Trading Partner Functionality) are booked on the WBS Element. This case might require a help from the FI Consultant who understands the Intercompany Treatment.

Hope it helps!

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Daria,

You can create a Statistical project having multiple company codes within the same project. So lets say you have created Global Project as Project Def. ABC in US and it has 5 level 1 WBS which belongs to different Geographies, Asia, Europe, Middle East, South America, Australia etc..

You can create these WBSes with different Company Codes within the same project Global US.

What then you need is a Cost Center associated to these WBSes to post actual values. Because in SAP you need a CO Object to accumulate the cost.

the statistical WBSes can be used to monitor the Budgets and check on the spendings, but these don't accumulate the cost. the settlement happens to the cost center associated with the statistical WBS.

Hope it helps..

Hi Daria,

Your requirement needs to be changed, then only you can adapt Project System Functionality.

You can consider by creating one project (the head office country) for the higher node and create one WBS element for each country and attach AUC and collect cost incurred at country level. You can use inter company transaction to post cost for the each WBS element (Country). and settle the cost from WBS element to AuC.

Since each country has its own Tax and Policy, so you cannot simple make the system work based on one country and spending money in different country.

The query is about creating "Statistical Project" for posting expenses like marketing,

and you are suggesting to create an AUC??

Why would someone wants to create an AUC for marketing expenses?

and moreover statistical WBS cannot be settled.

Hi Mohamed Rafi / Daria,

Apologies, the information i have provided is incorrect. I haven't took 'statistical' into account.
