Why LCMBIAR file is heavier than all the files it contains in itself?

I have these 2 files, whose size is 100 kb, and 53 kb

Why is it that LCMBIAR file generated for only them, has a size of 200 KB? Shouldn't it be only 153 KB?

Why do LCMBIAR files occupy so much space? Shouldn't they compress our files?

Hi Erika,

A BIAR/LCMBIAR, stores object and objects metadata.

It contains certain details from the source environment as well, which the destination LCM/Promotion management uses to determine whether the LCMBIAR is valid to import in this environment or not.

As a reason, the container will always be slightly larger than the contents itself.

Regards,

Sid

LCMBIAR file stores other information also (like folders and job details in xml format) along with the bi contents. If you choose manage dependencies, then it includes other dependent objects also.

Actually it is compressed too. You can change the file extension to .zip and extract the contents to see what is in there.
