Dear Colleages,

I have already connected SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office to a HANA DB via ODBC connection but I would like to do the same via BICS as well.

Any idea is appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Hamed

I believe there is no any separate BICS connection as such

you connect to HANA system using ODBC  in local and NW Platform(if it is BW then from SAP Logon a pad)

you can connect to HANA system using OLAP connection in BIP Platform

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-20625

in either of the case BICS acts as a layer

Please keep in mind: BICS is used for HANA and BW (in 1.4)

Only the way to maintain the connection properties is different!

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks for your support and help.

I almost agreed with what you said until I spotted this figure from the book HA100, which was published in 2013. In addition, I have the paper based version of the book, which was published in 2014, with the equal figure.

Hi

that picture isnt correct, BICS is using ODBC or JDBC (depending on the plaform) to access Hana!

Definitly!

Hi

BICS is used for Hana and for BW.

For Hana the connection have to be maintend as ODBC Connection and for BW you have to maintain the connection inside SAP GUI

Hamed - I am not following what type of connection you are looking for - would you please clarify?
