RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE error when connecting to BEx

Former Member

I get the following error message when I try to connect to BEx Analyzer 3.5 in Excel 2010:

Error Group

RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE

Message

Error when opening an RFC connection (>>>invalid RFC handle<<<<).

I have no problems connecting to BW backend.  It's only BEx Analyzer that gives me this error.  I tried to use transaction rrmx, but I get the same error.

What could be causing this error?  I've never had these issues before.  I started getting the error today.  I rebooted my computer, but that didn't help.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Nadia,

Delete the BW connection details in SAP GUI and create it again and this will fix this normally.

Hi Nadia,

Please "Check" BW source system is working fine.

SourceSystem->BW source system->Check.

Source system check was okay.  Actually we have two BW systems, and I get an error message when I try to connect to either one of them.  This tells me that the problem probably lies with Excel.  I just don't know exactly what it is.

Hi,

Please note that  BEx Analyzer 3.x is not supported anymore by SAP since
the end of extended maintainance of BW 3.x (April of 2013).

Also, please refer the following SAP Note:

147519 - Maintenance strategy / deadlines for SAP GUI

As per the following SAP Note BW 3.5 Add-On (BEx 3x frontend) is not delivered
with SAP GUI 730:

1652771 - BI 7.x in 730 DVD - Removal of the BW 3.5 Frontend Tools

That means:
With SAP GUI 730 you cannot create/change/execute 3.x workbooks.
With SAP GUI 730 you cannot use BEx Analyzer 3.x for RRMX.
With SAP GUI 730 on Precalculation Server you cannot precalculate 3.x workbooks.

You can check if the user has S_GUI, S_RFC and authorization.

You can also check the missing authorizations via SU53.

Thanks & Regards,

Sapna
