We have a requirement to flash news on portal masthead, any ideas are appreciated..
i am trying to use this link as reference but I am not getting clean results:

On newer versions stating 731 SP11 you can use the broadcast messages feature.

I was able to use the broadcast functionality.
Thats quite some relief.
But the client has requirement where we can show the news as flashing links in the masthead , which could attract the client's attention.
I hope I am able to get myself.
Anyhow the above option I am going to demo to client.

In addition to what Hamendra Sir has said....
There is one more option you can try...
You can create a new XML RSS based iview and insert that in your framework page....just below masthead.
Creating XML iViews - Portal - SAP Library
For end user it will look more like an masthead only.
