Global Parameters

Can somebody explain what Environment > 'Global Parameters' is? What is the purpose?

In the menu you can set the dimension, cons chart/acct, version and period.

I notice that it adjusts in CX52 to match the period of the document that is pulled up, so why does it need to set?

Is it important to set the correct period/FY when configuring?

Is it just for toggling between dimensions?

Thanks!

The global parameters provide ECCS with the period year and other information regarding the consolidation data being processed or analyzed.

It is important to have the correct period and year for customizing as it is time-dependent (period/year).

So when you are creating a new consolidation unit for an existing hierarchy, what period/year do you use as a rule of thumb?

Would it be the current period/year when the consolidation unit is created?

Or should it be backdated the same as the other consolidation units? If this is the case, how do I find the creation period/year for the existing consolidation units?

The period/year for the new cons unit and it's assignment to the cons group hierarchy should correspond to the earliest period/tear for which it is consolidated in the assigned cons group.

To find the period/year of assignment to a cons group, go to the assignment tab of the cons group master data and see the period and year of first consolidation.
