EPM Add-in for BPC 10.0M on Citrix XenApp 6.5

Hello friends,

A need has arisen within our organization to host the BPC 10 EPM Add-in client via a Citrix server. We are upgrading from BPC 7.5M to 10.0M and found that the two clients do not play well with each other on the same client machine. At this point, our 10.0 environment is development/Test/QA and we've got a group of 50-60 power users who we'd like to test the 10.0 system. We'd like to get this group of users access to 10.0 client via Citrix so that their production 7.5 clients are not disrupted. We have not used Citrix previously for BPC.

Some questions:

1. Has anyone successfully set up BPC 10 on Citrix XenApp 6.5? Can you share your experiences, pain points, tips, limitations, etc?

2. Is there any reason to install the EPM 32 bit add-in over the EPM Big Volume Add-in in a Citrix setup?

3. How have you been able to determine if BPC application issues are caused by BPC versus the underlying Citrix environment?  In SAP note 1492000, SAP states “SAP only supports virtualization solutions that behave in a fully transparent manner to the application. If the virtualization solution does not behave fully transparently the relevant technology partner must provide support for the virtualization solution to become transparent". Has this been an issue for anyone?

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your feedback!

Hi Hitesh,

We have just installed the EPM add-in on Citrix XenApp 6.5 and for the moment the application works fine. The only thing we are worried about is that when you open the Excel it takes a lot of time to get opened.

Has anyone experienced this too? Is there anything we can do to improve the performance when we open the EPM client?

Thanks!

Hi Marta,

This is an old thread can you please create a new inquiry and be sure to provide the EPM addin SP you are on, Office version and if it is 32/64 bit. Along with at what point it is slow after you enter login details or opening a report. The more infor you provide the better.

Thanks

Anyone can provide detailed documentation of EPM add-in installation in a citrix farm (two servers)? Specifically, how do you manage user profiles (50-75 users)? Do you use home directories as per SAP documentation recommendation? How did you set them up (sorry, completely new to citrix)?

Thanks.

Hi Hitesh,

SAP has a lot of customers using XENAPP 6.5 successfully with BPC. You may want to review note 2115501 - Helpful tips when using Citrix Xenapp 6.5 for some tips.

As for determining if citrix is the culprit to software behavior if you test outside of citrix and it works as intended then you know the problem is with citrix and not the software.

Hope this helps.

Thanks April for your reply. I did see that note earlier and was hoping for firsthand customer experience in getting the citrix setup started.

In response to your note about determining if citrix is cause of errant software behavior, how does one go about testing outside of a citrix environment if both production and development environments run on citrix i.e no other non-virtualized platform is available to test?

I appreciate your feedback.
