Check the logs under /usr/sap/trans/ehp7/SUM/abap/tmp and see if they are getting updated.

Connect to the shadow instance and call Tx SM37 and check whether the background job is running. Do a "Check Status" if the job is in active state. If the job gets terminated then this could be reason.

Hello Pooja

What is the target SP stack level (SAP_BASIS) for the system you are updating to?

Check these SAP notes as there is an issue with the phase ACT_UPG addressed in those notes when updating the system to SAP_BASIS 7.40 SP8/SP9

2089841 - Performance improvements for ABAP Dictionary activation

2105466 - Performance problem during ACT_UPG or ACT_TRANS during update to SAP_BASIS 7.40 SP8 or SP9

Cheers

Hello Pooja,

1) goto shadow instance

2) run t-code SM37

3) look for the last active (or cancelled) job RDDMASGL

4) check its details (button named "Job Details"

5) find the work process it is/was using on the corresponding server

6) goto ST11 (or to the work folder on the OS level) and find the corresponding dev_w* trace file

7) you should be able to find the root cause of the error and/or hanging situation. Then check for SAP notes for corrections - or update this thread

Regards,

When you double click what all do you see ?

Also check for dumps or failed/competed jobs.
