Hello,
We are planning to migrate our SAP instances from AIX/DB2 to Linux/DB2. We have tried it on a test environment with a system copy and it works fine. As this is just an OS migration do we need to have a certified migration specialist to be available during the migration?
Thanks
Dee

I am assuming you are migrating to same version of db2, then only change is OS. If aix db2 backup was restored on linux db2 during system copy process, it should work fine.
If not please specify high level steps followed during system copy.
pls note that i am not a "certified" migration specialist.

Hello Anil,
Yes we will be moving from AIX and DB2 9.7 to a Linux and DB2 9.7 (or 10.5) system. We will be exporting the data using R3load export and install the Linux instance using the export file. We were able to successfully complete this on a test instance. For production instance ,we will also carry out the SAP OS/DB Migration Check consisting of two service sessions: OS/DB Migration Analysis and OS/DB Migration Verification session. But our confusion is if it is mandatory for a OS/DB migration (certified) consultant to be present onsite during the migration.
So if we do the migration ourselves without a Certified OS/DB migration specialist, but we do carry out the OS/DB Migration Check from SAP, will the new systems be certified and supported by SAP.
Thank you
Dee
You cant't restore db backup from AIX into Linux x64 due to differ endianess processor architecture.
