Hi,

As it's completely related with the Mail server authentications either TLS or SSL SMTP setup. Here i suggest you to follow SAP KBA   1950670 - Error XS856 "No delivery to &1, authentication required" occurs while sending mails throu...

1702632 - Authentication with user and password while sending mail through SAPconnect using SMTP

Hope these KBA's will resolve your issue.

Hi Saravanan,

We got similar message number. We went into SOST transaction and tried resend mail option available.

The mail successfully delivered in our second attempt.

Please try this once.

Hi Gaurav Rana,

Still i am working on SMTP mail configuration. Because our server patch level is 700 but based on the note it says 731 is required.

We are communicating to client side regarding patch update process

I touch with you again Rana,

Thanks for your information and i am happy for your support

Hi Saravanan,

You need to update TLS=1 in Instance profile. Then it will work.

No, it will not work. You need the required support package level of 7.31 SP 6 with kernel 7.21 which Saravanan does not have.

Hi Nelis,

Actually the below note explain the kernel upgrade and support pack upgrade required.

"1702632 - Authentication with user and password while sending mail through SAPconnect using SMTP"

Our System Information :

Kernel : 700 -- Patch Level 276

SAP Release 700

Basis : SAPKB70021

But how adding the SAP system to Mail Server Configuration. I am not clear please give me the explain brief please...

Yes, the KBA's explain that SAP now permits authentication using SMTP from Basis 7.31 onwards but I'm saying that in my experience it is better to not use this method but to simply add a relay for the SAP system on your mail server. Generally adding a relay removes the step for requiring authentication.

A SMTP relay host just basically permits your SAP server to send mail using your company or ISP mail server on behalf of your SAP server(instead of directly).

Every mail server that I know of supports a relay host. You can google "SMTP relay host" for your particular mail server to get a better understanding.

Yes he still needs to follow the SAP KBA's which i mentioned earlier, kernel upgrade and support pack upgrade completely depends on the requirements if any.

Hi Gaurav Rana,

Thanks a lot for your information.

They above link is very helpful for me. Because my kernel level is 700 and Basis Patch level is SAPKB70021

So i think kernel upgrade and support pack required. Please advice Gaurav Rana

Thanks a lot Gaurav Rana.

Not necessarily.

In my experience these sort of issues are better handled on the mail server side, not SAP i.e. you should configure the mail(SMTP) server to allow your SAP system to relay off it so it will not be required to authenticate. In most cases this is as simple as adding your SAP system hostname or IP to the mail server configuration.
