How to Install SL Server in an environment with no AS JAVA???

Former Member

Hello,
We want to install SSO 2.0 on our BW/BPC environment. Our users will login via EPM add-in on MS Excel. We implemented the Secure Login Client scenario with Kerberos & SPNego only to find out that EPM users are unable to login with SPNego activated and that EPM is not
compatible with SPNego. We now need to implement Secure Login Server to issue x.509 certificates, however we do not have an AS JAVA instance in our environment (except Solman). Is it possible to use the JAVA instance on Solution Manager for SL Server or do we need a new installation? Would the installation of an AS JAVA instance for BW/BPC cause an issue with the HANA installation or would we install EP?

Thank you,
Tamara

Hello Tamara,

According to PAM you can install SL Server on the following versions of NW.

Secure Login Server, SSO Authentication Library and Identity Federation support all technology platforms available for:

 SAP NetWeaver CE 7.2 SPS07 and later

 SAP NetWeaver 7.3 SPS07 and later

 SAP EhP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 SPS03 and later

 SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SPS 01

Solution Manager Java part is not enough for SL Server.

You need to install AS Java. You donot need to incllude EP usage type.

Thank you, Yuksel.  Can I simply install an independent instance of NW 7.4 AS Java to implement the SL Server and use it for multiple instances?  We have 4 BW/BPC instances that we need single-sign on for.

Tamara

Hello Tamara,

Yes, you can.

Install NW 7.4 AS Java first selecting below usage types.

Then install Secure Login Server 2.0 SP4 component. Second Picture.

Then you can continue with Initialization of Secure Login Server.

You can check videos from link Implementing Single Sign-On with X.509 Certificates

and Implementation Guide for details.

Thank you, Yuksel.  Is this video Secure Login Server 2.0 install?  We are building the JAVA instance.  This same JAVA instance can be used for Dev, QA, and Prod single sign on, right?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hello Tamara,

This video is not for 2.0 but most screens are valid for 2.0.

Firstly, Install Java System and Import Secure Login Server as Add-On.

Apply Post Install Steps for NW Java.

Then Initialize SL (http://host:port/slac)  according to Implementation Guide.

ABAP and Java Configurations can be done according to the videos.

Yes, Only 1 Secure Login Server is enough for all SAP ABAP and Java systems.
