Hi ,

Can you please check the following way:

Step 1: Select Project WBS ( parent or Level 1 WBS ,if any) -> Select 'Project' from menu bar -> Derive Structure-> Check

Step 2:

Select Project WBS ( parent or Level 1 WBS ,if any) -> Select 'Project' from menu bar -> Derive Structure-> Execute.

Let us now if it works.

Thanks

At present the structure is as above but we require a sorted WBS structure(based on WBSE) as shown below.

Hi Radhika,

Is coding mask is defined ?

Can you please check in OPSJ and attached a screenshot of the same ?

The coding mask defined is not wrong, if thats corrected, i hope you can correct this also.

W-says Work order(WBSE) mask

P-says WBSE mask

Your coding mask allows you to create projects other than the coded one (it seems to me)

Can you please upload screen shot of OPSK also.

Thanks,

Hi Radhika,

You are using different type of coding mask in a single project, so you will not be able to sort the structure.

If you have unique coding mask, then only system will be able to sort the WBS element

As mentioned by Maria in his post above, You are using multiple coding mask within a single project and that's the reason system can not adjust the WBS level sequentially.

You may please create a new project and please maintain the one and only that coding mask throughout the project and test this restructuring process there if it works successfully.

Thank you

But my project structure scenario will be as I replied.

So creating new coding mask will not help in my scenario.

Hi

OK. But in that case I dont see any logic to restructure your project the way you want.

See,your project hierarchy has many prefixes i.e. G,M,P,L etc. To restructure ,it requires at least the prefix to be unique through out the hierarchy.

Lets take a very basic example: A pipeline is created by joining node to node and every node is similar to the other in one way or the other. And, if the characteristics of one node differs from  the succeeding node then the link is broken.

Its the same with your project hierarchy set up.

Hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Hi Radhika,

As far as I know, there is no any automatic functionality in PS to sort the WBS Code. Technically the field value taken as Characters or you can say as a text, So not possible to sort.

On the other way, you can shift the WBS manually by drag n drop only if you didn't start some work on WBS. Means WBS should be in init status.
