Hi,

Is it possible to install the Primary application server or ASCS instance in the HANA appliance. What is the best practice?

Hello Cheriyan Sam,

Yes, please refer to this link http://www.google.com.hk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=h... for detailed information.

I upload one important page within it.

Hi,

Thanks for the valuable reply, two questions on this

1. When you say Separate SID's for both systems required  - is it the SAP NW AS ABAP System and the HANA should have different SID's?. In a normal scenario both the ABAP instance & DB instance will have the same SID, isn't? . Please clarify.

2. In page 10 of the document, you are referring to HA based on system replication across data centers. If we want to achieve HA with the same DC, you still need to do a replication from the primary  server to the secondary or it can failover to the secondary node[ where data is shared between two nodes]?

Hi,

a) Yes, you need unique SIDs in a central scenario. You have 2 os-users, each user needs his own ENV.

b) Between datacenters you have a DT scenario, HA is only inside of one DC.

As you described, you could build up a HA scenario in one DC with a failover node or with the HANA system replication.

Hi Stefan,

For part b), I do not see the option with failover node (which you mean standby node in scale-out?). Maybe currently it is not support in SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP on one server? or do you have any additional information?

For detailed information, check note 1953429 - SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP on one Server.

Thanks & Best Regards,
