Single Cycle v Strategy based Maintenance Plans

Hi,

We have a business requirement to inspect a part every 3 years upto its 15th year anniversary and then inspect yearly after that for a further 10 years. I have looked at Strategy based Plans and found that this does not meet the specific business requirements so I looked at creating 2 single cycle Maintenance Plans as follows: -

Maintenance Plan A

Cycle Unit 3 yrs

Call Horizon 100%

Scheduling Period 15 yrs

Start of Cycle 26.01.2015

Upon scheduling the Plan via IP10 the following 4 maintenance calls have been generated:-

Call 1 - Plan date 26.01.2018

Call 2 - Plan date 26.01.2021

Call 3 - Plan date 26.01.2024

Call 4 - Plan date 26.01.2027

My question is why no Maintenance call on 26.01.2030 as the Maintenance Plan has a start of cycle date of 26.01.2015 so I was expecting 5 maintenance calls and the final maintenance call should be on 26.01.2030?

Maintenance Plan B

Cycle Unit 1 yr

Call Horizon 100%

Scheduling Period 10 yrs

Start of Cycle - 26.01.2030

Upon scheduling the Plan via IP10 only 1 maintenance call was generated?:-

Call 1 - Plan Date 26.01.2031

In effect I am trying to schedule Maintenance Plan B to start after Maintenance Plan A ends but the Plan dates and number of maintenance calls do not appear correct?

Is there another way of doing this?

Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Greetings Gary,

It's better if you use just one Maintenance Plan, to have a better control over scheduling.

Create a strategy with at least 2 packages:

1st with a cycle of 3 years and hierarchy 1

2nd with a cycle of 1 year, offset of 16 years, and a hierarchy of 2.

Assign both packages to your maintenance operations.

You may find it better to use MON instead of YR as the Strategy unit, depending on your setup.

Hi Gary,

You need to create strategy with two packages 1 YR and 3 YR.

Create the Task list and assign the maintenance packages accordingly.

Create a maintenance and assign the Task list to it.

Now, when you scheduling the maintenance plan in IP10, click start in cycle, there you can set off set if you want to start the maintenance from 3Y, keep the offset as 2Y, so system will pick the 3Y and provide the scheduling.

Kindly check and let us know whether you are able to get the output.

Regards
