Hi,
My client required to post depreciation by day. If I have activiated depreciation by day in dep key ,In mid of the month when I do the inter company transfer(ABT1N) system will post depreciation by day in that transaction?
Can you anybody come across this requirement?
Please guide me.
Regards
Dharmendar
Hi Dharm,
System will calculate the depreciation at inter company transfer transactions based on value date maintain for it. So before save the document in ABT1N, simulate it and check system is calculating the depreciation as per your requirement. If not adjust the value date based on your requirement.

Hello Dharmendar,
Please review below example of how depreciation would be calculated with a transfer:
In current year, the depreciation amount in the sending asset
is calculated according to the period control for retirements
(transaction type A19) so:
The value date of the retirement transfer is 05.06.2014
and period control for retirements is 01 (Pro rata at period
Pro rata at period start) then depreciation is calculated for
6 periods.
- In current year, the depreciation amount in the receiving asset
is calculated according to the period control for acqusitions (transaction type)
Receiving asset 1111111111 (xxxx):
The value date of the acquisition is 05.06.2012
and period control for acquisitions is 01 (Pro rata at period
Pro rata at period start) then depreciation is calculated as
of period 7 as per the depreciation parameters of the key.

Dear Roymond
thank you for reply, I review your example.we suggest the client to transfer the asset with depreication to day key as you reply earlier.
My client want to depreciation by day at the time of tranfer.(ABT1N) for sending company code So what could be configuration I need to do? .Please guide me

Hi Dharm,
Create a new depreciation key in AFAMA which should have selected the check box "Dep.to the day" and maintain base method, multi level method and decline balance methods accordingly in the configuration AFAMA. Later you have to assign this key to the asset master. Before that, if your asset has maintained the dep.key which is not on day basis and you have run the depreciation for it, then it wont be possible to change the dep.key. In this case you have to create a new asset with the new dep.key and do transfer posting in ABUMN on specific date. Later you can do inter company transfer for the new asset. (Or)
If you have not run any depreciation for the asset, then you can change the dep.key for the asset. In this case no need to create new asset and also do transfer postings. System wont prompt any error message while changing the dep.key.

Hello Dharmendar,
It is important to understand the system behaviour:
In the asset master record, the first time you post to a fixed asset,
the system updates the number of periods to be taken into account in the
depreciation calculation for this fixed asset.
Therefore, in a fiscal year with 12 periods, the number of periods is
always 12 unless you use half months or depreciation to the day. If you
use half months, the number of periods is 24. If you use depreciation to
the day, the number of periods is 365.
If the depreciation start date is in a closed fiscal year, the system
must no longer change the number of periods in the asset master record
because the depreciation in the closed fiscal year was calculated on the
basis of this number of periods and must no longer be changed.
For this reason, you cannot subsequently enter a depreciation key with
depreciation to the day for fixed assets like these if you did not
previously use one, and you cannot enter a depreciation key without
depreciation to the day if you previously used one with depreciation to
the day.
If the depreciation key does not correspond to the number of periods,
the system must issue error message AA 662. Otherwise, the system
calculates the depreciation on the basis of the incorrect number of
periods and it also determines the expired useful life incorrectly.
If you wish to depreciate as of a certain time considering depreciation
to the day, we recommend to transfer the asset to a new asset using
depreciation to the day. This is the only proper solution.
I hope this helps,
kind regards
Ray
