Substitution field by field in GGB1

Hello

I need to substitute the fiels XREF1 by the first 8 characters in the field ZUONR.

I have created a rule in GGB1.

Do I have to use the user exit?

Or can I use the field to field substitution? In then case what would be the synthax

(Could something like putting BSEG-ZUONR :1-8:  in the "substituted by" field make it work?).

Just want to avoid the development.

Hi,

Unfortunately, only with user-exit: field-to-field substitution is not that flexible. Though, there is nothing difficult about writing this code; you won't need even ABAPer for this.

Yes it can be substitute by substitution in case XREF1 field is exact eight character. But better to go with user Exit.
