How to collect Report Requirement information from Business users / Functional Consultants ? is there any specific format or template with any one ?

this is a sort of generic topic , like 'how should a consultant behave' 

it  has been asked and answered before , such as this example for webi

obviously, it helps to know the product that you will be implementing technically, so that you can scope  product features.
