Production Order Issue

Dear Gurus,

In routing for example, there are 10 to 60 sequence of operations to mfg a product. Say in 10th operation  will consume the quantity which is a mandatory confirmation and 20th, 30th & 40th, 50th operations are also confirmations which are not mandatory (but exists in routing) so for 60th my milestone confirmation with auto GR.

What are the reasons that in between operations are for why they are maintaining? any flash lights on this will be great-full

(standard reason is for costing purpose)

Thanks & Regards,

mac...

Hi Madhu,

As was mentioned by KK, you should get a response to this question talking to the different stakeholders in your company.

- Ask the Costing team to see if they need to charge the activity during the costing or to calculate the actual production cost

- Ask the Production team to evaluate if they need to measure or compare the time spent on those operations

- Ask the Planning team if those operations are being used to estimate the duration of your orders

Kind Regards,

Mariano

Madhu,

Your question is purely business related you should ask your business people why they have maintained multiple operations.

In general this could be to capture the activity values in order scheduling and costing and there could be any components consumption at these operations.

Madhu,

As I already told you before there may or may not be any technical or business reason behind this.

The best person to answer your question could be your shop floor guys and You can get in touch with them to know what are the operations they have to complete a product manufacturing.

Other reason which I have not listed above is if you do not want to do a GR or Update stock(inventory) after any operation confirmation then it could be defined as intermediate operation.
