The type com.sap.tc.logging.Category cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files

I can see tc/logging in the ENGINEAPI dc, however when i try to add the dependency it does not find it, also ENGINEAPI is not referenced in the dc i need to add the logging to. How do i add ENGINEAPI as a dependency to home/shr/ext so that i can include the tc/logging sc?

Hi Michael,

Please follow the below steps to Add Used DCs

In NWDS, go to J2EE Perspective and and select J2EE DC Explorer.

Now select your DC and expand it and further expand DC MetaData

You will get two options DC Definition and Public Parts

Now Expand DC Definition and you will see a node called Usded DCs

Now right click on Used DCs and click on ADD Used DC

Now one popup will displayed and you can add tc.logging

I'm using netweaver 7.30 and it does not have the J2EE perspective or the J2EE DC Explorer

Michael,

Add logging.jar as an external jar to your project. This jar is available in your J2EE Engine as you have checked it already.

You can also add tc/logging via NWDI in crm/home/shr/ext DC.

Hi Hamendra,

If you check the 2 below screenshots, i'm able to add tc/logging to shrapp/crm/b2c but not in shrweb/home/shr/ext. Form what i can see the ENGINEAPI is a dependency of shrapp therefor all dc in shrapp, can reference dc's in ENGINEAPI. But this is not the case for shrweb. How can i make ENGINEAPI a dependency of shrweb, so that i can include tc/logging as a dependency of shrweb/home/shr/ext?

I have tried, adding this via the nwdi, define dependencies, under the software components section of the landscape configurator tab.

Please try to add Used DC's for home shr ext from shrweb and shrjav.

Unfortunately no luck as yet. Our basis guy also looking into it now, Because even if we add ENGINEAPI as a dependency in the WNDI, it some always dissapears after adding it.

There may be the chances that  your basis has to reconfigure again.

Thats what we thinking as well, we might end up creating a new track, will let let you know how that goes.

We rebuildt the track but still no luck. Everytime we add ENGINEAPI to the depencies in WNDI it gets removed again. Basis team have now logged an official call with SAP. Will have to wait to see what comes out of that. Thanx for all the help again, will keep you in the loop
