SAP BPA 9.0

Hi All,

We are currently using SAP CPS 8.0 build M33.92. Can you please advise on the below questions.

If we go for SAP BPA Version 9.0, "SAP support said to recreate the jobs after the upgrade".

1. As we are now on V8 in our DEV(Using the same box for DEV and QA) environment. Does it mean that we have to modify each and every job after we upgrade our DEV system to V9. We have jobs of type ABAP and CMD.

2. We are also planning to build a new DEV system with V9 version. Instead, If we move our V8 objects to the freshly installed V9 system. Can we export and import all the applications at one time or do we need to export and import each and every object and modify it.

Please help and thank you.

Regards,

Chandu

Hello,

You should be able to just deploy the BPA over the existing CPS installation. No manual intervention is required in that scenario.

If you are building a new system then yes, you need to export everything across. But indeed you can do that per application or partition.

Note that some objects cannot be transported like credentials.

But if you are building a new system as a copy of another one it is easier to copy over the CPS tables to start with.

Thank you Gerben. Which one do you suggest, to export all the objects per partition or do a system copy?

Hi Chandu Bomma,

You should simply copy the jcs_ tables across, as Gerben suggested. When you then deploy version 9, all objects will exist in the new system and the system will automatically update the database tables. You might have to edit the configuration of platform agents to accept connections from the new system and you will have to install a new license.

I agree with Gerben, I think this is the best approach. Not only will this copy credentials across, you will also have job history.
