Web interface for CRM thru Cloud solution ?

Former Member

Hi Experts,

In one of the forum threads I found the below information :

Interface: The solution has a beautiful user interface built

leveraging HTML5 technology. There is native extension on to mobile device

formats, both via HTML5 and native applications for device and application platforms

like iOS and Android.

Please clarify If this means the CRM thru cloud solution provides a UI5 based web-interface with responsive design for access thru desktops, mobile devices automatically out of the box ?  Do we need to have SAP Enterprise Portal also as web-interface in cloud along with CRM solution ?

Ramesh,

Cloud for customer is a separate  website. You do not need SAP Portal to utilize cloud for customer. Cloud for customer is based on SAP By-design platform. Cloud for customer solution by default provide access through desktop using url. and there is apps for mobile and tablets.

You can check following youtube channel for more details :

Thank you Shrikanth & Chandan,

Yes. I too searched in SDN and found the same.

If we have to go for any custom development besides the standard delivered functionality of C4C (Users should access the custom apps also from the same cloud and the same way as standard including mobile access), is there any cloud based development tools, Framework or IDEs available to develop on cloud itself OR develop FIORI like UI5 apps on-premise and deploy them beside the standard apps in C4C. Any idea on what framework and platform the standard C4C solution apps were developed by SAP. Please share the possibilities of custom development.

Ramesh,

Yes C4C has the Cloud Application Studio which has it's own development language and the technical consultant having the required knowledge on it can create the custom Objects and can also enhance the standard objects too.

You can download this Application Studio as well as the development guides from Service Market Place. You can also refer the below online guide.

SAP Cloud Applications Studio – SAP Help Portal Page

Hope this helps.

Hi Shrikanth & Chandan,

Would you please help me understand if we can use DMS (Document Management System) or any other component in ECC as a Knowledge Base (for Document Repository & collaboration features) from C4C.

What are the possible & best products/components from SAP & Non-SAP to use as Knowledge Base for C4C. Can we use SAP Enterprise Portal's KM (Knowledge Management & Collaboration) for the same.

Thanks Pushkar,

That solved my current issue of choosing a right KB for C4C and we are going with MindTouch as our customer doesn't have either DMS or Portal KM configured in current Landscape.

Just curious to know, If the customer has either a ECC DMS or Portal KMC already setup 'on premise', if there is any chance at all to use ECC DMS or Portal KMC for this purpose. Since Portal KM supports WebDAV, is there any chance of considering it thru any integration interface.

Hello Ramesh,

This CRM thru Cloud is known as Cloud for Customer(C4C) which earlier was known as Customer On Demand.

This unlike our other SAP On Prem systems (like SAP ECC, CRM... etc) do not have the servers in your premises. Servers for this is remotely located and maintained by SAP.

Advantage of this is that SAP would be responsible for Security, Data Maintenance and other key activities to maintain them. This reduces your cost as you don't have to buy and maintain the server in your landscape.

However C4C for us is just a URL which is call as Tenant in which we have the whole system. This ain't as robust as SAP On Prem systems but they are good for On Field Sales Representative.

Yes it do have a very good HTML5 UI and can be access not only on desktops but on any Android, Apple devices. We have specialized application for this. This is also supported to Windows mobile devices using Internet Explorer Browser.

It has Access Management, Organization Model and other On Prem features. But you can also integrate this system to SAP ECC or CRM to enhance the functionality. Other web based applications can also be brought into it using Mashup.

Lot of things to speak on this. Overall yes this is good option to use.

Hope this puts at least some light on C4C.

Cheers,

Chandan
