Copy function on Direct Update DSO issue

Former Member

Hi Experts,

We are facing an issue while copying data to Direct Update DSO(Planning Enabled).

We are trying to copy data from real time infocube into planning dso (aggregation level based on composite provide which is union of realtime infocube and planning dso).

If all the keyfigures values are 0 in the infocube, then those records are not copied to the planning dso.

Whereas if the key figures has values, then those records are copied.

We have used the standard copy function.

When exceuting the planning sequence for copy function, the empty records are read but the combinations are not copied.(Ex: 11100 records read, 0 generated, 0 changed).

Also checked the settings of the standard planning function. Process Empty Records checkbox is enabled.

Yet when Keyfigures are 0, those records are not copied.

Is this the Planning DSO limiation?

Any pointers will be of great help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Priyanka

HI Frank,

Yes the issue was solved. The quantity was associated with a unit. In case the unit is not assigned, then those records were not copied. So we ensured that though the value is 0, unit was filled.

Hi Priyanka,

If I am right, the issue is solved by me. 🙂

As we all know, key figure with quantity type should has a clear unit value even it is 0.

Best Regards,
Sheldon.

Hi Priyanka,

this is the standard behaviour for standard planning functions and also for fox.

A zero will not be written to the cube or DSO.

there is one standard function which is able to write zero-record.

it´s the creation of records according to characteristic relationships.

this one would create a zero record for each possible combination.

depending on the numer of records you could run this one before your copy.

but I am not sure that this function works on a DSO, I never tred that.

Hi Cornelia,

Thanks for your reply.

We have tested out the copying between two realtime infocubes, and it copies even the 0 records.

In SAP BW 7.4, there are two copy functions.

1. Copy ( 0RSPL_COPY)

2. Copy ( without records where all keyfigures are zero ) (Techincal: 0RSPL_COPY_NO_ZEROS)

The copy function( 0RSPL_COPY) is designed to copy even 0 records. Hence the process empty records checkbox enabled and the copy function with no zeros(0RSPL_COPY_NO_ZEROS)  does not have the process empty records checkbox enabled as it should not copy the 0 records.

But the same functionality is not working on Planning enabled DSO.

Any pointers on this.

Hi Priyanka,

since both - the function and planning in DSO are new functionalitites, it´s probably a system error and you should open an OSS note.

Hi Priyanka,

0RSPL_COPY should read and write zero records also for planning enabled DSOs. Do you have HANA as DB and are you using PAK? In this case try the setting (parameter id):

RSPLS_HDB_SUPPORT = HDB_OFF

Does this work?

Hi Gregor,

Thank you for your reply.

We are using HANA db and IP on BW.

Installation details: SAP BW 7.4  SP8.

Priyanka
