Hello GTS Gurus,
Is there a Govt restriction by any European country that the GTS server's physical location should be in Europe ?
Let us say we have a GTS server in US and we screen Logistics and HCM business partners. Now we want to screen Logistics/Financial Institutes and HSC partners of European parent company - is there a Law requiring the SAP GTS server's physical location to be in Europe ?
Does anyone know of examples of companies with HQ in Europe but having the GTS server in US ?
Thanks.
Beejoy.
Hi Beejoy,
I don't know the answer, but found this guide on the web-site of the UK Data Commissioner. It seems very relevant to your question:
Sending personal data outside the European Economic Area (Principle 😎 | ICO
Hope it helps.

Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply. It seems that EU now has very stringent Data Privacy laws -where in any data -even just the Customer and Vendor name and address transfer can not be made to US without Data transfer contracts and informing the involved parties. Moreover, as strange as it sounds, for screening these names against SPL lists, many EU countries need additional permissions - which could take considerable amount of time and money.
So on this topic the Legal counsels can guide the Companies for each individual EU country. There is no restriction as such for the physical location of the SAP GTS server in US - but for sure the recent laws make it harder.
Regards,
Beejoy
