Cannot connect to OLAP Source

Hello ,

We are on Dashboards SP04 and the Bex queriey is the source via BICS. Query browser is being used to build the queries in the dashboard. Recently we have applied the patch 6. After that on the dashboards we are now not able to connect to any Bex query using the existing OLAP connection.

Same error is being thrown (Request processing failed. (XLS 000009) Cannot connect to the olap source) when previewed.

Have restarted the SIA, restarted APS server,Connection server, checked the Locale settings but none of them worked.Basically Dashboards query browser is not able to communicate to Bex queries using OLAP connection resulting in the above errors.

Kindly tell me if any one has solution for this. Thank you.

Hello,

Can any one help me on this. SSO ticket expiry when trying to connect to BW Bex queries using OLAP connections.

Hi,

There can be multiple reasons for this error.

1. clock skew between BW server and BO server is too large

2. issues with the Security Token Service on APS

3. Keystore is expired

From the error it looks like you are using SSO authentication type for the OLAP conn. Is the error occurring intermittently or consistently?

Hi

Upgrade your client system Dashboard installation version to Dashboard Designer SP04 Patch6 (As recommonded by SAP, Server versions & Client system versions has to be same) and check the same.As the Dashboard Designer tool is client installation version component,no need to install in the server.Upgrade only in the client system machine check the Query browser connectivity.

Venkat

HI,

BO server and ABAP server clocks are drifted. Synchronizing the clocks at operating system level has resolved the issue.

Thank you all.

Have you tried the below Notes:

1905673 - "Request processing failed. (XLS 000009 )" while adding a BICS connection in Dashboard Que...

Symptom

  • "Request processing failed. (XLS 000009 )" happened while adding a BICS connection in Dashboard Query Browser
  • Error detail: [[error.openSapBwBrowsingSessionFailed] 0] < com.sap.sl.olap.impl.ConnectionSpecificationImpl@xxx, networkLayerType: SAP_BW_BICS, providerType: SAP_BWxx, server: null, catalogName: null, cubeName: null, language: en_US)>,<Unsupported AuthenticationMode: CredentialsPrompt>

Environment

  • Business Intelligence Platform 4.0 Support Package 04 or above (BI4 SP4)
  • Dashboard Designer 4.0 SP4 or above

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon CMC.
  2. Navigate to OLAP Connections.
  3. Click on the New Connection icon, enter the required information, set authentication type to Prompt and save the connection.
  4. Quit CMC.
  5. Open Dashboard Designer.
  6. Click Query Browser.
  7. Select the connection create in step3.

Cause

  • This behaviour is by-design. OLAP connection created via the CMC with Prompt authentication mode is not supported.
  • And a query must be selected in the OLAP Connection.

Resolution

  • Set the Authentication type to Predifined and enter logon information, or set it to SSO. And select a query into the connection.

2138401 - Error: Request Processing Failed (XLS 000009) Cannot Connect to OLAP Source

Symptom

  • When connecting to BEx query from Dashboard through OLAP Connection, an error occurs - "Request processing failed. (XLS 000009) Cannot connect to the OLAP source"
  • BW entitlement account in CMC > authentication > SAP becomes locked out if you attempt multiple refreshes
  • Fiddler log show error message -Caused by: com.businessobjects.mds.olap.protocol.sap.jco.JCOException: com.sap.conn.jco.JCoException: (103) JCO_ERROR_LOGON_FAILURE: Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon) on <IP or Servername> sysnr 01
  • When creating new query below error is displayed

germany_AB_TETRA1.jpg

Environment

  • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.1 (issue could also affect 4.0 and multiple SP's)
  • Dashboard 4.1
  • Dashboard 4.0

Reproducing the IssueThere are multiple workflows that could reproduce similar results

  • the bug in SAP note 2062091
  • If you have changed your entitlement username and password in CMC > authentication > SAP and have not restarted the Dashboard Processing and Cache Servers

CauseThe issue is caused due to special character in the Password for BW Entitlement Account.

Resolution

  • If you have the bug in SAP note 2062091 then use a non special character password (and restart the Dashboard Processing and Cache Servers after changing it)
  • If you have made recent changes to the BW entitlement account or password then restart the Dashboard Processing and Cache Servers so it uses the most current info.
  • If restarting the Dashboard Processing and Cache Servers does not resolve you may find it necessary to recreate the Dashboard Processing and Cache Servers.

Hi Suman,

I have tried as mentioned in the notes but could not fix the issue. Actually in the dashboards , when I try to create a new query in the query browser, after entering the user ID and password, and selecting the OLAP connection, while selecting the Bex query the above message is being displayed.

While on the preview mode, "Request Processing failed.Cannot connect to the OLAP source" message is coming.

When applying the patch 5 on 4.0 SP4, we upgraded the BOBJ business suite, but did not upgrade the Dashboards tool on the server. Do we have to upgrade the tool as well ?
