Hello Experts,
Can anyone explain in detail Difference between Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance @ config level. Also difference between Calibration/Inspection order for PM and QM @ config level.
Thanks
Ashif Tadvi
Hello Ashif,
The first question is quite a general one. Preventive maintenance is a set of practices aimed at eliminating errors before a breakdown occurs. Thus the reliability of equipment is enhanced and risks of a downtime are minimized. Regarding SAP this is about task lists and maintenance plans that generate call objects at intervals defined by time periods or strategies.
Maintenance Planning (CS-AG/PM-PRM-MP) - SAP Library
Predictive maintenance is a next step in EAM development. With the advance of SAP HANA and later S/4 for HANA the plant maintenance can use fast analysis of large volume of data to predict where the possible failure may occur and take appropriate measures. This is more flexible in my opinion than preventive maintenance.
