Hi,

We are on NW 7.4 portal. I was exploring on collaboration features in portal and I am bit confused in this. Some queries might sound lame as well but looking forward to some inputs. As mentioned in this thread is wiki and forum a replacement for collaboration rooms? When we say NW 7.4 portal has better collaboration features what exactly are we referring to. I have referred link for configuring wiki  Configuring and Managing Wikis in the Portal - SAP Library for  forums Making Forums Available in the Portal - SAP Library and for collaboration rooms.

So when we speak of collaboration features in portal what all does in encompass? Are collaboration rooms still used in 7.4 or is there any replacement feature for the same in 7.4 portal ?

Any inputs on this?

Regards,

Navya

Hi Navya,

SAP JAM is a more extensive collaboration platform. It provides the capabilities of all 3 and much more. JAM is a platform on its own while c-rooms, forums and Wiki are provide collaboration functions on the portal platform. So as far as collaboration on the portal is considered, JAM is not a replacement.

Hi Navya,

The collaboration rooms are virtual rooms to bring together users working on the same project. It provides common access and organization of documents, applications etc. With other features like setting up meetings, instant messenger, calendar etc. All collaboration features are available in 7.4 and should be used alongwith forums and Wiki.

Forums, much like this forum, include discussion threads that can be organized based on topics being discussed.

Wiki, again is much like the SCN WIKI, where users can create knowledge documents which are organized in spaces based on the content of the wiki.

All 3 are effective tools of collaboration and  serve different purposes.

Check the f following wiki for more on WIKI and FORUMS

Hi Tanush,

Is SAP Jam something that has replaced collaboration?

Navya.
