I am a sap consultant from almsot 8 years and I would like to become in next future a Project manager and I am trying to find which certification could help me.

Can you maybe advice what would be helpful for me?

I have already Prince2 Foundation and in June I will have ITIL exam, I was interested in the project management curriculum, see here below

Thanks both for your reply.

I am glad I have your feedback cause I think as well that the certifications provided by Sap would help a lot but I wanted to have a confirmation.

I was also interested to get certified with PMP but this requires minimum 3 years as project management experience so not right in my case as I would like to get one.

Alternative is the CAPM certification but sincerely as I have the Prince2 foundation I don t see a lot the sense.

Thanks a lot again guys

Hi Nicolò,

You have two good certifications and I am sure SAP Project Management certification would be of a great value for you. This one is SAP specific and is more about Solution Manager and ASAP Methodology. Of course, the knowledge of both is mandatory for SAP Project Managers. ASAP is a great methodology that combines project management and ALM methodologies. Solution Manager is the state of art in terms of ASAP methodology automation. I’m a big fan of those two 🙂

Because you already have Prince2 Foundation, I would consider taking SAP Project Management certification first and after that Prince2 Practitioner. In my opinion that, and some years of practice, would make you a complete project manager. Of course those who love the profession never stop studying. I’d also recommend you to take a look at PMP certification. In case you also decide for PMP, that would come before Prince2 Practitioner as this compliments PMP (for more details see

http://www.projectsmart.co.uk/pmp-vs-prince2-certificates.php     and     https://www.prince2.com/prince2-certification-and-pmp).

Hello,

If you are looking to get into Project Management as a discipline one of the industry certifications like PMP from PMI or Prince 2 is good foundation. You already have this so you are good to go to domain specific certification.

If your goal is to work in the SAP project delivery space then understanding the SAP implementation methodology and tools is important. The C_PM_71 certification exam from SAP and associated curriculum will provide you with that.

Good luck.
